this website is a portfolio
but I like to think of it as a studio with the window wide open (take a peek); a space where my work is visible, be it in progress or currently static; a room of my own online; an archive that is ever-evolving with my practice.

I have come to think of filmmaking not simply as a way of representing reality, but as an apparatus for generating it: a way of creating situations in which new relationships, ways of being, and forms of understanding can take shape.  As such, my work is a continuous reflection on process, collaboration and embodied world-building. It is based on the understanding that the practice of making, instead of the object made, is how and why we inhabit our world.

I engage this approach in various films, experimental projects and hybrid forms. I like to collaborate with musicians and dancers, bringing process-oriented, archival and analog tones to their specific visual worlds.

I also interpret and translate French <--> English (in particular for the film world and cultural journalism)

Born in Brazil in 2000,  Lucie grew up with ties to both France and the midwestern United States. They now live in Brooklyn, NY, where they work and create in the liminal spaces between cinema, writing, and plural languages.
